Events at Barnes & Nobel Booksellers

Since the first successful event of a discussion night on June 5th about Print On Demand Publishing at the Barnes & Nobel Booksellers in Annapolis, MD, the intrepid pair of iUniverse.com authors (Sabra Morgan and Diane Hundertmark) have participated in two more events.

 July 17th at the Barnes & Nobel Booksellers in Camp Hill, Penn.
 October 17th at the Barnes & Nobel Booksellers in Ellicott City, MD

We are joined by other iUniverse.com and self-published authors as we can round them up. We provide information about print on demand publishing, self-publishing, the pros and cons of POD, helpful hints about marketing and publicity, and our own personal experiences with iUniverse. The events are fun and entertaining for both Sabra and myself and we certainly hope for the audiences. We haven't made large number of sales at these events, however, sharing our knowledge and experiences with other aspiring authors has certainly been fun.

More of these events are in the planning.

Coming Some Time Next Year

The third book in the series is a work in Progress-Tentatively Titled Come the Realms of Winter
A prequel to The Dragon and The Rose it takes you to the time when the complex weaves of relationships in the Royal House of Calmora were forged during a civil war. And for a kingdom where Magic is considered a myth for children, its power directly affects everyone in this struggle.

IN THE DEAD OF WINTER…
It starts...

One young man stands on a wind swept hilltop...
Eighteen years old and on the run…
Cold, hungry, alone, and unsure of friend or foe...
Hunted across the Kingdom of Calmora by a “loving” Uncle who it seems wants him dead.

Another young man struggles to control and understand the growing strength of his “talent”…
A “talent” few know of and less believe in…
A power that frightens him…
And may very well consume his very soul.

A third watches as betrayal and death crash down around him...
And those he loves are placed in harms way...
No matter what choices he makes.

A fourth finds he can pledge his service and honor for love and friendship...
When he could not for his family name and blood ties...
But what will this pledge cost.

Come follow their journey of all those human emotions -- hate, deception, love, death, and sorrow
While forces (human and otherwise) threaten to destroy them, their world, and all they hold dear.

For
COME THE REALMS OF WINTER...
It ends...

I
Cry
Tears of an Alibi
Hoping you will not find
The lie that's hidden inside me.
The lie that's hidden inside.

The lie that is my truth.
A truth forbidden by youth.
And one day you may see.
No longer hidden by me

A Series of Haiku – Nature
by Alison Hundertmark

When leaves have fallen
and the trees have all gone bare
the snow angels come

The snow has melted
and bits of green poke through
flowers will come soon

All dew of morning
has been dried up by the sun
and the air is warm

Soon warm air turns cold
and nature begins to turn
green to brown and gold

Round, round nature goes
in this cycle of new life
it shall never stop

Untitled
by Christa R.

Remember when the sky was large
And the days passed by with out count
Towering greens pressed against the blue expanse
Streaked with wisps of pure white cloud
The sun was warm and burned for days
While we played among the trees
Living out all our fantasies and dreams

And when the stars came out
The moon passed by with a silent smile
As we talked and dreamed on your back porch
About chasing dragons and growing up
As the days turned to night
Time’s protective cloak fell off
And we grew up and grew apart

As the days passed by the sky got small
And the dragons in the woods died out
But our memories still stayed strong
And often times our thoughts drifted back
To each other and how we’ve grown
And how time’s fateful touch had changed us both
But left us the same deep inside

Then one day I came home to your backyard
And I found you waiting on your back porch
The years all fell away so quick
And the moon’s smile beamed down on us
Two children lost to time’s cruel hand
Yet we’ll stay wrapped in each others arms
Two souls safe in the woods from time’s changing touch
