Once again I have won semi-finalist in the local Lahontan Valley Holiday Recipe Contest. My Easy Crock Pot Ham recipe was picked out of 5 recipes I submitted by 3 local Judges (real District Judges). I will be cooking my homemade unique recipe and submitting the finished product on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 5pm. Wish me luck.
2 years ago, my recipe for Bacon Chicken Fillets also went into semi finalist. Ironically, 2 hours before my food was to be delivered I went into hard labor with my son Colten and missed the contest entirely. Something came out of the oven in time, but it wasn't my Chicken Fillets. I am excited that this year I will be able to participate fully in the contest and recieve another ribbon on my wall.

'I'm No Martha Stewart' A Starving Housewife's Guide to Affording Family is well on it's way, atleast to a rough draft. In this book will also be many of my recipes that are easily affordable to make. If you have any recipes that you put together on a tight income feel free to email them to me for a shot at being in this book. I am excited about this particular publication, but plan on spending a good deal of time on it in research and editing so I am shooting for it to come out next fall in time for the holidays to come.

This last week I slaved over a hot oven baking over 100 little gingerbread house peices for our local kindergarteners. We had a blast as myself and several dozen 5 and 6 year olds used our creativity, imagination, and lots of M&M's to show off our construction talents. I believe several of the young boys have a great future in architecture! And the young girls learned that white frosting makes great make up!

Two of my favorite author friends have done well and I thought I would suggest checking out there books.

Rosemarie Skaine began writing 'Women in Afganastan' long before Sept. 11. She has now completed this very interesting and informative book and even updated the title to 'Women in Afganastan under the Taliban'. Rosemarie is a great author of women sensitive books and I highly recommend her work.

Norm Harris's 'Fruit of the Poisonous Tree' has sold beyond expectations as it is in the top 9,000 at Amazon and the #1 selling Navy mystery novel. Norm has the military background and the experience to write a truly intriguing, exciting drama and if you enjoy this you would be smart to pick up a copy now. He was featured on CBS's Morning Show a few weeks back. As far as the very famous authors go, I am indeed privilaged to have known him from the start.
