Certainly there are some that wonder why anyone would
chose e-publishing over print. After all print publishers
have been around much longer than e-publishers, pay better,
and certainly do promote their authors. So why are some
turning to e-publishing then?

There's a good answer for this. Several in fact.
One is that we believe in saving the trees of this and other
countries. Trees are a precious comodity.
Two, e-publishing offers the average writer so much
more freedom. By this I mean, we can write the kinds of
stories we want, with the kinds of characters we want.
Let me explain, I'm a category romance writer, and in
New York, the publishers expect their writers to adhere to
a formula. Perhaps I'm narrow minded, perhaps I'm hard-
headed, but I'm tired of formula romance. For one, it's
getting so perdictable. There's no surprises.
Ebooks have a limitless shelf life! In that they are always
available.
Ebooks are easier to store, no enormous books shelves.
Ebooks can be read on a computer, on a reader, or even
printed out by the reader. I love gadgets and they are coming
out with many different varieties.
And I believe they are the wave of the future. The children
of today enjoy reading on the computer. They are comfortabel with
it. And they are the big readers of tomorrow. If you are
thinking they won't last, don't forget they said that about
the computer, and today most businesses couldn't be run
without them.

bookstore and
check the prices of paperbacks nowadays.

I agree with everything Jim says. It isn't as though the look and
feel of
books is much pleasure either. I have only one book (a hardback) on
my
shelves that's sheer joy to look at and touch--an edition of The Wind
in the
Willows with coloured illustrations. The paper is white as snow and
satin
smooth.

Paper books cost a lot of money to store, too (try buying a decent
sized
bookcase) and they take up a lot of precious space.

I hope this helps people to understand why we chose this
particular field of publishing and also why we will continue
to promote it with all our hearts!
