When browsing the magazine racks, check out this month's (August) issue of PARENTING. My lovely one year-old daughter is on page 21 next to my "Mom-Tested" tip! The tip says:

"Even though Ayla, my daughter, is only one, we try to encourage a love for books. We'll put her in her crib and read a few pages to her while exclaiming over the pictures. She'll then leaf through the book for thirty minutes, giving us time to relax or cook dinner."

What else? My second "Off the Shelf" column for Cape Cod Parent & Child is closer to my heart than the first. It is about the book Teenagers Learn What They Live. The new Managing Editor loved the review, a major relief. It will be available in Cape Cod grocery stores on August 1st.

And, I have been madly querying publications. Sally Odgers, Australian Children's book author, invited me to take part in her online book group. The creative juices haven't stopped flowing. I'll go ahead and jinx myself by reporting that I faxed a department suggestion to PARENTING. If it is accepted (ha-ha), I would be master of a "parent-child interjections" section in the magazine whereby parents could send me their funniest, true one-liners said from parent to child or visa versa then I'd select the ones to be shown each month.
