WOMAN'S WORLD magazine photographed mom, Ayla and me at Cape Cod Museum of Fine Art for a "Mother-Daughter Skip Day" article I wrote. "Mother-Daughter Skip Day" was coined by mom to symbolize a day we would skip work / school to take a road trip. The memoir will appear on page three of WOMAN'S WORLD May 17th (in grocery check-outs). I'm thrilled as WW is my favorite woman's mag!

Also, I have just read and reviewed Jennifer Holm's BOSTON JANE: AN ADVENTURE. The plot involves sixteen year-old Jane Peck and her friend Mary, who journey by sea to Washington’s un-chartered territory. Jane is going to wed businesslike William Baldt, a young doctor formerly in residence with her physician-father. Mary aims to start her own boarding business. But aboard ship, vermin bites and unsafe conditions kill Mary. Broken and weak on arrival, Jane is unprepared for the scene: groups of Chinook “savages,” wretched living conditions and a missing fiancée. Worse, the dead Mary is making her posthumous self known by appearing to Jane everywhere – and she is not happy:
