Our brother who is developmentally disabled we found living in a homeless shelter in Michigan. For the past two years we have been sending money while trying to find him aid and help..
This past week things got worse they now charge to live in homeless shelters in this state. I wonder who thought this one up?
With no help available I put him on a train heading to my sisters out west, since in my state you have to be a resident for a year before applying for aid.
Since none of the states where any of us live are willing to deal with these problems we called the head of Social Services in Washington D.C. pleading for help.
We now have a lawyer in Washington D.C. working with us and contacting the right people in the system that will help us.
As it appears right now my brother may soon be able to have an apartment with heat, food and live a normal life, thanks to one man in Washington.
My advice to anyone out there banging there head against the systems if you need help go to the top..its simply amazing how fast and efficient they can be.. Till next week stay warm, stay safe...
