Hi there!
A number of people (two) have begged (politely inquired) for an official Linda Bleser newsletter. Always eager to please, I seriously considered my options. There were a number of questions to take into consideration.
First of all, who would want to receive a newsletter. Well, that's easy. My mom would. But she doesn't have email. Okay, scratch mom. Then I thought of you guys who have either signed my guestbook, sent me a gracious letter about one of my books, or owe me money. (One of you owes me a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie, but I'm not naming names.) Hmm..maybe you'd be interested in belonging to the exclusive Linda Bleser newsletter group!
The second question is, what would I put in a semi-regular newsletter? Well, I suppose I could tell you when I've got a new book out so you can be the first person on the block to own it! Heck that's worth the price of the newsletter alone. Did I mention it's free? But what about those months when I don't have a new book coming out? I suppose I could update you on contests where you can win lots of great prizes including MONEY! Hey, that's a great idea. Like that great Halloween contest coming up in the next few days with a fantastic cash prize! I'm sure people would want to know about that, right?
So maybe a newsletter isn't such a bad idea. What do you think? Wanna join?
Join now and my first newsletter will give you detailed information about that Halloween contest I mentioned earlier. You know...the one where YOU could win big bucks! How's that for an incentive?
- Linda Newsletter Dated: 12/12/2001 2:37:56 PMSubject: Linda Bleser's Happy Holiday Newsletter! Happy Holidays! I'll keep this newsletter short because I know you're all busy this time of year. (I'm not done with my shopping yet, either.)
HOLIDAY PROMO AND CONTESTS!
There's still time to win some holiday cash. With a first prize of $200, a second prize of $100, and free ebooks, this is one contest you won't want to miss. Check out the e-writers Christmas Cash contest page for instructions (http://www.geocities.com/e_writers_today/contest.html), then visit the author's holiday sites for clues. The contest concludes December 24, 2001 at midnight CDT. Good luck!
Still looking for that last-minute Christmas gift? How about a book to warm your hearts and brighten your holiday season? HOLIDAY HEARTS is a collection of four Christmas novellas from Leta Nolan Childers, Elizabeth Delisi, Kathleen Culligan Techler and me! Kim's Reviews says, "Grab a nice warm cup of tea and settle in for a delightful afternoon reading, 'Holiday Hearts' by some of America's most talented Romance Writers. You'll soon find yourself drifting into a prism of holiday cheer and magic." I highly recommend this download for your holiday reading pleasure, available now from DiskUs Publishing (http://diskuspublishing.com/holidayhearts.html).
CONFERENCES
I really meant to send out a newsletter in November, but with back-to-back conferences, time just slipped away from me. Hello to all the new subscribers who signed up for the newsletter in New Jersey and Orlando! It was great meeting each and every one of you. The Romantic Times convention was loads of fun. I've finally posted pictures and there are some familiar faces there, along with a few shots of barely-clothed men. You can check them out at http://www.bleser.com/linda/rt
QUESTIONS
And now we come to our favorite part of the newsletter. Questions from you!
Q: Your last newsletter looked funny. All the apostrophes were doubled up. Why is that? A: Hey, everyone needs a gimmick, right? I thought I'd be known as the double apostrophe author. Okay, the real answer is, "I have no idea." But if that's the only formatting problem I have with these newsletters, I'll count myself lucky. I'll try cutting and pasting plain text in the form at Authors Den this time and see if that works. If not, I'll just have to try never to use an apostrophe again.
Q: I really enjoy your newsletter, but it comes out so infrequently. I sure would like more laughs in my day. Any idea where I can sign up for more fun-filled newsletters?
A. Well, none are as much fun as mine, but Jeff Strand tries. If you need a little more humor in your day, just visit Jeff's website (http://www.jeffstrand.com) and sign up for his Seriously Whacked Newsletter. And yes, Jeff is paying me for this shameless promotion--he just doesn't know it yet.
If that's still not enough humor for you, then be sure to check out Michele Bardsley's website (http://www.michelebardsley.com). You can sign up for her delicious, fun-filled newsletter by sending a blank e-mail to michelebardsley-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
Q. You promised your newsletter would whiten my teeth. Should I print it out and chew it, or what?
A. Ummm...far be it from me to make extravagant promises that I can't keep. Let me see your teeth. Smile now. C'mon, wider. There ya go. Oh my God, I'm blinded! Your teeth are so white. It's working, it's working! Now, if you want to go back to having dingy teeth, simply hit that little unsubscribe link at the bottom of this newsletter. But really...why would you do that when the benefits of receiving this newsletter far outweigh the inconvenience?
That's all for now. Have a great holiday and a Happy New Year. I'll see you in 2002 (Yikes!)
