Here is NEWSLETTER #2A

Greetings Friends and Family!

Well folks, it’s official: I am now a freelance writer for Tower
Publications!

As you might imagine, I’m excited about this opportunity, and have high
hopes that it will lead to even bigger and better things. Soon I hope to
expand my domain across the entire known universe!

Yeah! That’s it!

Seriously though, I’ll be writing local articles for the High Springs
Alachua Magazine as well as for Senior Times (OK, no old-timer jokes!). If
I play my cards right, I may even get some of my photography into these
fine publications.

If you missed my interview in the Summer edition of the High Springs
Alachua Magazine, it’s not too late to get it, so run right out and pick
up your copy now! It’s a highly informative magazine with great articles
and even greater interviews! And if I’ve already mentioned all of this,
just blame it on my blasted short-term memory for mentioning it again and
I’ll just, just – just what was I talking about anyway?

Okay, I’m being silly.

I’ve been working diligently on the sequel to my book, Endless. On
occasion you may catch me at Starbucks or Coffee Culture, drinking
espresso and typing away (at least until I land a fulltime job and my
Bohemian Lifestyle goes on Sabbatical).

I have an interesting story I’ll leave you with, since you are so very
interested in everything I have to say regarding the writing life. It’s
fascinating! And exciting! I’m like, like a Rock Star! Groupies are
constantly banging on my Starbucks window and… oh wait, that’s no
groupie – that’s a beggar! Dangit!

Anyway, getting back to my interesting story: whether or not you have yet
read the book – as I’m sure you all have – is of no consequence with
regards to this anecdote.

Late one night, really late, like after midnight even, I was working on my
current best selling masterpiece Endless. I needed a name for a
bar/drinking establishment/dive/pub/kinda place and I thought of that
painting “The Scream” by Edvard Munch. Yeah! That could be a cool name
for a bar. Not Edvard but “The Scream”. Hence I began writing those
chapters that take place in a dingy bar in the distant future called The
Scream.

3 or 4 o’clock I finally wrapped it up and hit the hay. The next morning
I awoke and got coffee, booted up the computer and the news popped up. To
my astonishment, there was a picture of “The Scream” and an article
describing how it had just been stolen from a museum in Oslo. Naturally,
I saw this as a sign that this story is meant to be told! (Don’t ask me
why – when you are a writing maniac you just look for all kinds of reasons
to forge ahead, to be encouraged and to keep writing!). At a friend’s
suggestion I stuck that painting in the story, hanging on a wall in that
bar.

Also, I’d been using some Norwegian words for the linguists out there to
have fun with, and so I was even more surprised to learn that a Norwegian
had painted that famous artwork that just got stolen and that now hangs on
the wall in that bar in the distant future.

I have some other interesting tidbits I’ll share with you as I invent
them, I mean think them up, I mean remember them.

For now I sit typing this newsletter, gazing at the woods through the
window of my home office, sipping a cup of coffee and waiting for the
little 3 year-old wildman to wake up and drag me on to his next great
adventure.
