Greetings and Salivations!

Well, somehow it has happened again. Another eight months have blown by since last I penned a newsletter. (Missed me?)

Dad had warned me that the older I get the faster time flies, but this is getting ridiculous. Or maybe it’s just because I’m having so much fun!

Yeah, that’s it.

AWARDS
Drum roll, please!

I have recently received a MAJOR AWARD (have you seen “A Christmas Story?”).

Well, my award may not be the fishnet clad leg lamp like the one Darren McGavin gushed over in the movie, but it’s almost as good.

My feature article on the Tuskegee Airmen took First Place for Original Writing, awarded by the Association of Free Community Newspapers. Out of the 5,000 or so submissions from throughout the NATION, Tower Publications brought home seven awards (one of them being mine). Yeah, I’m pretty stoked!

Tower Publications continues to garner innumerable awards, and last week at a conference in Orlando we picked up an additional 24 plaques, four of which were for editorial excellence. Additionally, I won two Honorable Mentions by the Community Papers of Florida for my photography. Needless to say, I’m riding high.

Thanks to all of you who have sent me your positive vibes. I got ‘em!

THE SEQUEL
My sequel is still on the backburner, but has simmered long enough. I think it is past time to move it to the front of my list of things to do. I had long ago expected to finish this book, but in the meantime so many ideas have come to me that in many ways I’m glad I haven’t finished it, yet. The sequel promises to be a wild ride.

THE GRANDKIDS
I have other grand news — we welcomed our second granddaughter into the family last year. As you might imagine, our household is hopping! The children continue to supply me with a lot of yarn to spin for writing my columns.

But enough about me! What’s new with you? Drop me a letter and tell me what’s up. I would especially like to hear some great examples of how keeping a positive outlook has paid off. I know it has worked wonders for me!
