Area Author Finds Publication in Diverse Magazines

Christian author and Natchitoches, Louisiana school teacher, Danny R. Von Kanel, has recently been published in a variety of magazines. Von Kanel was a recent guest of the Southern Christian Writer’s Guild in Mandeville and spoke as a breakout session leader at the first Berries, Bridges, and Books Writer’s conference. He has also led several “Get Published” Seminars at the Natchitoches & Grant Parish libraries.

His article, When Small Groups Face Division” appears in the February 26, 2012 issue of Lookout Magazine. Lookout is a weekly magazine of Standard Publishing. This issue in on managing anger, Von Kanel’s article gives six ways to avoid angry outburst in small groups.

Von Kanel addresses significance for senior adults in his article, “A Guide to Finding Significance” which was released in the January, 2012 issue of Mature Living magazine. Mature Living is a monthly senior adult publication of LifeWay Christian Resources.

Von Kanel, now a public school music teacher, uses his teaching experiences to offer guidance for other teachers. His article, “Bubbles (Bringing Out the Fizz in Students) has appeared in the winter, 2012 issue of Teachers of Vision, a publication of the Christian Educators Association International. This article gives specific ideas toward motivating students toward excellence and accomplishment.

Living with Teenagers magazine, another LifeWay Christian Resources publication has released Von Kanel’s article entitled “When It Comes to Worship” in their March 2012 issue. This article a parent’s feature, gives parents a view into youth worship experiences and how they can connect. It also helps parents know how to help teens appreciate adult worship.

Von Kanel was a recent guest of the Southern Christian Writer’s Guild in Mandeville, spoke as a breakout session leader at the first Berries, Bridges, and Books Writer’s conference, and led a breakout session of the Louisiana State Baptist Writer’s Conference in Alexandria. He has also led several “Get Published” Seminars at the Natchitoches & Grant Parish libraries as well as other libraries across Mississippi and Louisiana.

Von Kanel also has two books published in 2003 & 2005 by CSS Publishing. His third book, Building Your Life by the Owner’s Design (The Positive Approach to Building Your Life God’s Way), will be publish in 2013 by 4RV Publishing, a royalty paying company. Von Kanel teaches music at the L.P. Vaughn Elementary/Middle school in Natchitoches. He taught music at the Northside Tech Middle School in 2009 - 2010 in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Von Kanel is married to Beverly Gay Allen Von Kanel of Franklinton, La. He has two grown sons and five grandchildren.
