A LINE FROM DANNY

This week, the 90th year of the Washington Parish Fair will begin -- the largest free fair in the country ... and it is held in Franklinton, Louisiana where I live. The town shuts down. Schools close. Neighboring cities close schools. Thousands of people come from all over. 60 buses of children are bused in from schools in New Orleans on Thursday. It is a site to behold!

Yet, some church growth truths can be learned:

1. Everyone is mobilized - If we want to impact our cities, we must mobilize our people for service.
2. Though publicity avenues are used, word of mouth is the fair’s best tool - We must inspire our people to talk their faith.
3. Though the fair is free, it cost tremendously to put it on. Growing our churches will cost us greatly -- in time, sacrifice, and money.

One item our churches have the fair doesn’t. The fair is all human effort. We have the power of God!

This issue of the Framework Weekly is on laity mobilization. May you find some help for you and your leaders in its content. Danny’s book, “Built by the Owner’s Design” will be on display at the Washington Parish Fair this week. Look for the Positive Medical Booth.

A special promotion is planned in coming months to use “Built By The Owner’s Design” to strategize for the new church year and as a gift for “Pastor Appreciation Month” in October.
