A LINE FROM DANNY

Let me extend a word of welcome to the many United Methodist Church district superintendants from all over the country who have recently subscribed to The Framework Weekly. You are another indication of how this newsletter and “Built by the Owner’s Design” has crossed denominational lines.

This issue of The Framework Weekly will address discipleship. More than ever we need Christians who look, act, and live like Jesus Christ. In an age when Christians are hated more than ever, our commitment to becoming “little Christ” must never waver. The world hated Christ and it will hate us. The challenge is for us to love people ... even our enemies. We must be careful to not reap people’s hatred because of attacking them personally but lovingly present the truth of Scripture -- recognizing that scriptural truth is sometimes narrow in its focus. We can never
waiver from the truth that “Jesus is the way, the truth, and life.” May you find some help in this
issue on discipleship.

THE PROBLEM OF CONSERVING THE RESULTS

“In Louis Drummond’s new book, “Reaching Generation Next”, he states, “Every pastor has experienced the disappointment of seeing a person make a profession of faith, carry on for a time, and then seemingly fall away.” He sees the answer as a well grounded orientation for new Christians involving seven points.

1. A rooting and grounding in the salvation experience.
2. An overall grasp of the great doctrines of the faith.
3. An understanding of what the bible is and how to read it profitably.
4. A basic primer on prayer.
5. A grasp of how to acheive victory in trials, temptations, and teastings.
6. An understanding of the meaning and place of the local church in one’s life.
7. A grasp of the necessity of witnessing and service.

He also says the assigning of “shepherds to new Christians” also is beneficial.

services that many missionaries probably do not know exist. This site can be a tremendous help
with missionary burnout because it allows families, supporters, and churches to stay in better
