1. EDITORIAL:

Hello and welcome back everyone! It’s certainly been an interesting week for me. I got my new Website launched and two days later our computer crashed. Fortunately we were able to save the data and are now in the process of reinstalling our programs again. We’re still having a few glitches but hopefully my handy husband will work it out.*~;)

Then I spent a couple of nerve-racking days trying to access sites with passwords. I finally got them resolved but was afraid I wouldn’t get into Authors Den to send this newsletter. But the problem has been corrected and I’m happy to present another issue to you. *~J

Don’t forget to check out the extensive links for paying markets at my Website. Right now the database has 550 URL links and I’ve hundreds more to add! Vestal Review is a magazine for flash (short shorts) fiction. We are accepting up to eight flash fiction stories per issue. We realize that there are different definitions of what a flash story is and all of them have merit. In our definition, a flash story is no longer than 500 words and it has a plot. We are paying professional rates now. Foreign writers will be paid in Amazon or Barnes and Noble gift certificates unless other arrangement is made.

Nostradamus completed a total of 942 quatrains which he organized into Centuries - groups of 100 quatrains (one Century only had 42 quatrains). A quatrain is simply a poem with 4 lines.
The rhymed quatrains of Nostradamus were written mainly in French with a bit of Italian, Greek, and Latin thrown in. He intentionally obscured the quatrains through the use of symbolism and metaphor, as well as by making changes to proper names by swapping, adding or removing letters. The obscuration is claimed to have been done to avoid his being tried as a magician.
