Wanted to pass on to the creatives that I met with Emily Knight today to nail down the details of my arts and crafts store SHADOW PLAY moving into the Metrocenter Mall in Jackson, MS. (www.shadowplayent.com)
I'm happy to say that we will be moving into the old FASHION CENTS spot on the lower lever (old Ruby Tuesday entrance) next to Belks and diagonal from SNO BIZ.
SHADOW PLAY has a membership program that for $25 a year independent musical artists, visual and literary artists, artisans and clothing designers can sell their products on consignment (80%/20% split in favor of the artist). Payments are done on the 15th of each month.
Each month we one featured artist that will be showcased in one of our two window displays. On Wednesdays, we will have what will be called WEBB WEDNESDAYS (www.cawebb.com) where live entertainment will perform from 11-1p.m. and 7-9p.m., so this will be a great opportunity for the musical artists that are members to perform and meet with customers. All members will be advertised for free each month in our CONVERSATIONS magazine beginning with the May Issue that will be released on April 22, 2006. (www.cawebbconversations.com)
For those artists that want to rent their own sections of the store, we have six 5'x5' sections of SHADOW PLAY that have been designated for this purpose. For those spots you pay your $25 membership and then $100 a month. (Initial payment is first and last month rental)
The only restrictions I have is that with the musical artists, you can't have products in FYE. Other than that, it will be a great opportunity if you are a musician regardless of the genre that wants to sell your products somewhere other than the trunk of your car.
We are having a meet and greet on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 from 6-9p.m. at the South Hills Library (next to Key Elementary) on McDowell Road. to talk with all those interested in being a part of the project as it begins.
Members will begin to move their work into the spot on Saturday, March 25, 2006 beginning at 9a.m. The store will have its grand opening on Saturday, April 1, 2006 with live musical performances, booksignings and more!
