For some reason my op - ed column called VEEP suddenly brought a number of unusual responses. True, I made an error and referred to Paul Ryan as Paul RAND once or twice, but that was just a typo — the three or four who caught it now have an indication of my concern.

Of greater impact are the dozen who wrote to me because Romney paid a mere –14% income tax on a humungous adjusted gross. One guy was all bent out of shape because he “paid over 50%.” He better hire a new CPA next year.

One lady, however, had the right idea. She said we need a new TAX plan.

She’s right. The one we have is for the birds. We need Sen. John Lender’s Fair Tax Plan. It is the best to come down the pike — even though it is endorsed by WSB’s Neal Boortz.

Will we ever get it? Or anything similar? Get real.
