Inpsirational Author Newsletter Dated: 1/2/2007 11:05:19 AMSubject: Hello 2007 2007 is here. Wow! Seems like 2006 just came in. But no never mind it’s a New Year and time for new beginnings. One thing I love about a new year is it’s another chance to begin again. Time to let go of past mistakes and get another opportunity to make it right. Isn’t it a blessing to know that God gives us second, third sometimes a myriad of chances to get it right? He doesn’t hold our mistakes against us, but gently ushers us to better direction.
Another great thing about the New Year is we can set new goals and work at achieving them. We can set higher, more fulfilling goals that make us better in our personal, business, and financial lives. And everyone should set goals. Where do you want to be next year this time? What purpose do you want to serve for God, others, and yourself? Think bigger than material things. Material things are only objects that come, go, and expire with time. Think on something deeper and much more rewarding. Make a goal or a few goals for 2007. Without a vision your life seems trivial and as the Bible speaks, without a vision the people will perish.
One thing I’ve noticed as the years go by is that each year I discover more about God. As I get older I change the way I think of God. I used to think God was the blessing King. Well, He is the blessing King, but I used to think that each day God was supposed to give me something. And the more I got the more I expected more. But today as I walked through the house I noticed a serenity that I had never noticed before. Everything in my life seems so perfect. Now keep in mind, my books aren’t doing as well as I want and I have so many blessing I’m still waiting to receive. But for a moment, I stopped and noticed the peace in my life and gratitude began to fill my heart and for once in a long time my heart was content. Felt like I didn’t need to ask God for anything and it seemed like I didn’t need to cry out to God for my needs to be met or my wishes completed. For once, I felt everything was in order.
At those thoughts, I decided that 2007 would be the year I would thank and worship God for all His blessings. Listen, I had spent just about all of 2006 crying out to God, asking, begging and complaining for change, hitting brick wall after brick wall as I tried to make change happen on my own. Let me tell you I was worn out by the time June came in. Even then change didn’t occur. Looking back on 2006, I realized it could’ve been so much worst. So many things could’ve happened, but God poured His grace on me like a fresh rain. His blessed assurance followed me when I wasn’t even aware.
So I’m grateful, blessed, content and for once God and I see eye to eye. For once, I get what God is doing in life. And folks I thought that would never happen. I thought I would never understand why things were so bent out of shape. But today, as I write this, my heart is filled with unfailing hope and comfort. I plan, with the help of God, to make 2007 the year of worship. Changing my prayers from: ‘God bless me with this’ to ‘God thank you for being God. You alone are God and there is none like.’ Even my worship at church will change. I want this year to be the year of Worship. Not praise, but worship. I want to slow things down and just worship God, and declare the glory of His name.
I hope you will take the time and slow down and reflect on God’s unfailing love, mercy, and grace. I hope you make changes that will improve your way of thinking about God. I pray you set goals for your life that will give you, peace, joy and goodwill to all men.
Have a happy new year!
