Stories Woven Through Time July 22, 2008 — Issue # 1

Hello to all my friends,
This is my first newsletter, so please forgive me for any glitches we may have getting it to you. To all of you who know me and like to hear what I'm up to occasionally, I hope you enjoy it.
I have several exciting things to share with you. I've had plenty of new and exciting experiences this past year or so. Our group in Springdale continues to assist writers in their quest to achieve whatever is nearest and dearest to their hearts. I've seen two new books published, FLY WITH THE MOURNING DOVE and IMAGES IN SCARLET, and am working on getting three more out there. Happily, my favorite publication,WANDERING IN THE SHADOWS OF TIME, is available online or directly from me, and we're working on getting it in every state park in Arkansas. Its popularity appears to be timeless.


VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR SET:
Remember, this is just like a book signing in a bookstore, only much easier. You can sit at home, as can I, saving gas and lots of energy in this warm weather.

Because at the end of the tour the name of everyone who leaves a thoughtful comment will be placed in a drawing. Four winners will each get an autographed copy of the book of their choice from the two I'm promoting. One lucky winner of the four will also receive a silver and turquoise ring from New Mexico. So don't forget to read and comment each day beginning July 21 through July 31. We'll hold the drawing August 4 and the winners will be posted on my blog. There will be links aplenty and both historical and contemporary photos illustrating scenes in the books, so join me next week. And anyone with questions can ask them. I'll show up late in the afternoon to peruse comments.

WORKSHOP DATE SET
My next workshop is scheduled for September 27 at Ozark Folkways, 4 miles south of Winslow, Arkansas, on Scenic Highway 71. The workshop has been requested for some time. It is specifically for those who want to publish their own book. The workshop is not concerned with the writing of the book. You will learn the process of getting your writing into book form. Groups who want to publish cookbooks or other works for profit may want to take the workshop; also those who are working on family history books. I will teach using a laptop and those who attend must also have one. Groups may share, but you must have a computer to work on in the class. Registration is $50, bring your lunch or plan on eating at Grandma's a mile down the road. We will begin at 9:30 and finish at 4:30.

FREE CONFERENCE
The free conference in Springdale held by the Northwest Arkansas Writers Workshop is scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2009. Mark you calendar. The schedule of events will be in my next newsletter. Anyone interested in volunteering to speak can email me for details. I do miss seeing you. I miss writerly talk, and gab sessions about our books and our trials and tribulations. What we're up to. Blogs are great places to get together and catch up. So are social communities on the Internet. Check them out. Facebook, Gather, Ning, to name only a few. Yahoo Groups is also a good site to find writers exchanging ideas and information. Join in there.
