Good Morning!

I can't believe that time is rushing by so quickly. Already half over, the summer is marching along and we here in Florida are splitting our days between the thick, hot, humid days, worrisome weather reports, and gas prices that are about to go off the scale. Welcome to modern times, eh?

Thank goodness there are still lots of things we can do to stay out of the heat and keep our minds off current events even if only for a little while.

I've been busy writing, finishing up my second Zebra Historical, "If You Could Read My Mind." A story of a telepathic ex-army surgeon and the neice of a valued scientist who are both pursued by a ruthless killer and a past they can't escape from.

As soon as I get a cover and a release date, I'll be getting the word out.

Ever Wonder Where Authors Get Their Ideas?

From friends, casual acquaintences, and family alike, this is probably the question I get asked the most.

Where do these ideas come from? Is it just the meanderings of a undisciplined mind?

Gosh, I hope not.

Is it some past soul channeling a writer's psyche, demanding that their story be told?

I don't know for sure.

What I do know is that my characters talk to me. Yep, like a schizophrenic, I hear voices. If you ask them most authors will tell you the same thing.

These wiley personalities manage to wiggle there way into our thoughts and when everything said and done, the not only get us to tell thier stories, they actually often times do the telling.

Take for instance, William Markham. The hero of my recent release, "Spirited Away," William came to me one day when an ebook editor had asked me to write her a 'Regency paranormal.' I immediately embraced the idea, and the concept of a story came to me almost intantaneously.

In my mind, the picture of a hero formed, and the working title, "Lady Halverson's Ghost," came bursting through. This was going to be a story of William Markham, a ghost who'd been terribly wronged, accused of crimes he hadn't committed, and hung for them. Returned from the dead he would seek his vengeance against the man who'd caused his demise, and injuring William even more, had stolen something from him that was more precious than life itself.

Physically, I knew what he looked like too. A cross between Errol Flynn and Viggo Mortenson.

But William wasn't an easy character to write. He stormed and stomped through my story and gave my heroine many challenges. Fortunately for us both, William came to be the hero that he was meant to be by the end of the book.

Not only did he make a heck of a hero, William helped me to place and win in several contests, and even snag an editor's attention. She bought William's story on only the first three chapters and a synopsis.
