I’ve been given permission to open my class at the Brookline Community Center for the Arts (BCCA) to adults as well as teens.
Description:
Mime Outside the Box
A mime tells stories and creates characters, illusions and worlds through isolations, movement, and immobility. Though focus will be on the “classical French” technique developed by Etienne Decroux, with its system of isolations, fixations, and qualities of motion, inspiration will also be drawn from mime’s history from commedia dell’arte and vaudeville to modern day masked theater and performance art to its influence on hip hop dance. Some multimedia will be used. Opportunity for students to create their own work through collaboration.
