Well folks, a mystery/crime thiller is entitled itself to a mystery, and we have one with "Darkness Descends," Scott Frank's first novel.

Last week, quite by accident while surfing the net, ScottNews ended up at bn.com and discovered that they had the book listed for sale. (Oh joy of joys!!) They offered it for the suggested retail price of $15.95, plus shipping (unless of course you ordered two books and qualified for free shipping).

Naturally, being quite thrilled about this, ScottNews rushed out the big announcement.

Within hours of sending the newsletter, the bn.com web page with Scott Frank's novel was checked again (to be sure it was real?) and, lo and behold, bn.com was offering the book at a whopping 30% discount!! (That's the same discount offered on their bestsellers!!)

Needless to say, ScottNews was even more excited!

By Sunday it was confirmed that some subscribers had taken advantage of this wonderful offer and ordered copies of thir book.

But, the plot thickens. On late Sunday it was discovered that that same bn.com web page offering "Darkness Descends" at a 30% discount now stated that the book was "not available" through bn.com. (?????)

(As a note, bn.com's order confirmation also states that if for any reason an order cannot be filled it will be cancelled. So, what now ????? More mystery.)

Today, Monday, one subscriber had checked their order status for "Darkness Descends" and the order did say that their books would ship by Saturday, June 29. Will the book be shipped or not? ScottNews knows not. Not yet anyway.

Suffice it to say it is quite a mystery to ScottNews!!!!!

At any rate, as bn.com seems not to be accepting any further orders for "Darkness Descends," the old standby's are ready (unfortunately, not at 30% off) to fill your order.
