Hello and happy holidays!!

It's been quite a while since the last ScottNews and it was felt that there should be joyous holiday greetings, and a brief update, sent to everyone (before the holidays are over).

"Darkness Descends," Scott Frank's mystery/crime thriller, has gone through all sorts of pricings on the web, with summer sale prices (even some fall sales that occured) and all, but it appears they have now settled down. However, the great news is that word about the book is spreading and it is becoming available in more and more places. Amazon now sells it on their Canadian and their British sites (amazon.ca and amazon.co.uk).

As with other book sites, searching for author "Scott Frank," title "Darkness Descends," or the ISBN (1591131286) will let you find the book fairly rapidly.

Additionally, a couple of months ago, Wal-Mart.com made "Darkness Descends" available to customers and word has it that sales there have been climbing.

Special Note: Rumor has it that "Darkness Descends" is being read in Australia!

Shopping for the best price on the Internet can be done by going to http://www.allbookstores.com/book/compare/1591131286. At present, it looks like Double Discount is offering the best price of the various web retailers offering the book.

Most web stores are promoting that the book be ordered by the first week in December to be received in time for a holiday gift. (Of course, if one wishes for an autographed copy, one can always e-mail scottfrank51@hotmail.com and request this. The price for the book and postage-within the US-is $20 American. Payment and shipping will be discussed by e-mail at that point.)

"Darkness Descends" became available for checkout at the Groveland (CA) Public Library in October and the Yosemite Highway Herald newspaper carried a nice article and photo about this-as the story takes place in both Fresno and Groveland/Pine Mountain Lake.

In other ScottNews, word has been received that Lene Dissing, a very talented singer/songwriter from Denmark (http://www.dissing.net, a Danish site with an English version), has been signed with an American music producer. It may be that a song Lene and Scott (and Christian Warburg, also of Denmark) collaborated on, "Our Love," could be part of the deal. Though "Our Love" can no longer be heard on tonos (due to this development) it is sincerely hoped that "Our Love" and Lene's other great songs will soon be available here in the states (and around the world)!

Another songwriting partner of Scott's, the gifted Angela Baker, has just finished with a new song ("You") which should be available for you to hear in the near future. When it is, an announcement will be sent. Three other of her beautiful songs can be found at http://aol.tonos.com/scottdwelch.

One of Scott's newest lyrics, "She Stays," has just had a piano melody composed for it and a male vocalist will soon put voice to this project. The lyrics may be viewed at the above tonos site.

And, over the past couple of months, contacts have been made with other songwriters in various places around the world with work on other lyrics having begun. As they become recorded, songs will be uploaded to tonos for your listening pleasure.
