So have you missed me? Honestly, for the first times in nine years, I actually missed sending out my newsletters—so my apologies.

Since the last newsletter, I landed in the desert at an animal rescue. I had hoped to be working the dogs and making some inroads but managed to end up with that really nasty respiratory cough and was down for about six weeks.

Seriously? After recovering from the mystery issue, this was the last thing I expected or wanted! The upside is that I was able to get the new look of the blog sorted out. I am still merging the content but I like it a lot better—hope that you do too.

Now that I am well (and it is SO good to feel good) I managed to work some of the rescue animals and get a lot of material for future works and the pet parenting school.

It also looks like I may be able to help some shelter animals in the process as well. We need to get final permission, but in addition to the pet casting call I'll be sending out, I am hoping to have some sponsors get me into the no kill facility to train the dogs, get
footage, and get them adopted.

Let's see...oh! Cheyenne, a dog I trained in my spare time (she lurked around the training pen at the pet store I conducted classes at) did a commercial that is airing in our local area.

Funny, I had not worked her in over two years and only had 20 minutes to train AND get the shot—but we did it. The producer was happy, the dog mom was thrilled, and all their friends and customers are probably watching the DVD on endless loop!

Finally, it is my birthday month and my sister is coming out to California. I hope to rendezvous with her and attend the International Marine Animal Trainers Conference in early May.

I anticipate being able to begin emerging back into the public light in June if all goes as planned. So perhaps I will see you in person.

BTW this newsletter isn't really that much longer—I just included two months of links on animal behavior training and animal careers.

2. Product(s) of the Month

Flea season is around the corner and if you have ever faced a flea problem, now is the time to get on it before it starts!

The product alert for you is about a new flea control product that is now on the market. It is called, Assurity and was developed especially for cats and it is only available through your veterinarian.

It uses spinetoram (registered in 2007) as a topic flea treatment and the claim is that it kill between 98 - 100% of fleas within 12 hours and before they can lay eggs.

I'll have to find some early reports on the product but it is cat specific and can be used on kittens at eight weeks and older.

Each box contains a unique tracking code so that if there are any problems—they can be identified.

Ask your veterinarian about it now...and remember to use
the triangle of effective flea control and keep at it in regular cycles to keep fleas away.
