Is it reallly August? It is difficult to keep track of time and it really seems to be speeding by faster and faster.

I've been out on the lake now and again but my goal for August is to get out on it daily. Tomorrow I am traveling to Los Angeles so it might not happen but I'll just have to go out twice on Saturday!

Life on the party perch is lovely. The birds welcomed me back and Tickle the cat showed up within hours of my return.

The reason I had to leave for a while was a mixed blessing, I had an inspector come in and them some specialists--and there was mold. Luckily, it wasn't the black mold but eight types of spores is pretty bad in my book and may be why I've had so many challenges.

We got a pass to return but the construction dust is everywhere and it is a real mess. The upside is that this might be the reason for all the ups and downs. I see the doc for results next week and will be running a couple of Hepa filters as an added caution. The hope is I won't have to relocate.

My phone has been ringing for pet training but I no longer provide that service. We will do phone consultations or group seminars for pet behavior but my focus has returned to wild animals and concervation and I've been busy creating tutorial videos and doing webucation for businesses about online marketing and reputation. In the fall I hope to return to my writing.

For those wondering about the Thailand trip, so far I have 50% of the funds needed and we expect to head over in October or November with luck.

Once again I missed the trade show for the pet industry. This year it was held earlier than normal but Las Vegas doesn't really appeal to me in the middle of the summer!

I was able to spend some time with Bear Dog again and he kept me out hiking a lot but his behavior made me want to talk a bit about changes.

He has a huge hunting drive and his nose gets him in trouble since he zones out. Normally he is very obedient and, to most people, even his misbehavior looks good to the masses.

When an animal's behavior changes suddenly or habits change, it is always good to take a trip to the veterinarian to make sure all is well.

Often, these subtle changes can indicate another problem brewing. In our case, Bear Dog was recently given a clean bill of health but a recent fire that drove more animals into our hiking areas are likely behind his distraction.

Weather can also be an influencing factor as some animals react to barometric pressure, seismic pulses and other changes we miss. In our case, scents are heightened in certain conditions and that can be super distracting.

The good news is that he is back to his normal goofy self and on his best behavior...mostly.

We've been working hard on the tutorial videos and winding down on the live events. September will be the last live session for the year.
