The season is fast coming to an end and the fall is approaching. One of my favorite times of the year, I love the shifts happening around me and it reminds me to take the time to change gears as well.

Animals and plants are preparing for the winter, things cool down and calm down but the striking colors and contrasts impact the senses like no other time.

Since my last note to you, we had the Doo Dah Parade which is a zany, fun event for my little town. One of the entries were the BOBs (Babes on Boards) a group of novice (female) stand-up paddle board (SUP) enthusiasts who gather every Thursday night for paddling and potlucking.

I've recovered enough to get back out on the lake and can't tell you how great it feels. I rotate between the kayak and the SUP. This ability to get active again coincided with the mold restoration. It was completed with a clearance for me to return home after two weeks of having to stay away.

Although the flooring has to be done, I've got Hepa filters up and running and am hoping this is the last piece and the one we were missing. I am waiting on the lab reports that somehow got misplaced but it makes sense.

Normally I work at writing in the winter season and that is my hope for this year, to get back to writing. Since synchronicity works in my life, I have to trust that the latest edition of my book that arrived in the mail as a surprise from my publisher is simply a signal that I will indeed be back to full swing again.

I'll be heading off for most of September on a strategic session and educational retreat, hoping to rest and revamp before my high school reunion...and no, I'm not telling which one it is!

So imagine my surprise when I ambled down to the Post Office to find a package from one of my publishers and discovered another edition of one of my books had been republished.

If you've been a subscriber for a while, you'll know that What Animals Can Teach Us about Spirituality has been touring the globe without me.

I'm always thrilled to see how the new editions look and the countries where they get distributed. This newest edition arrived as I was mulling over a couple of new book project ideas.

One of the goals is to do a few workbooks, one for this text and another on the animal behavior and training side of the coin.

After so many years of working with animals, I really am surprised at not missing the day to day training activities. Instead, I am enjoying simply observing behavior and not having to answer a million questions posed by animal enthusiasts.

Of course a whole lot of people are still whining over my decision to head back to a focus on the wild and exotic creatures and their conservation but it makes me happier.

Hopefully, I'll be penning some new works that will achieve my goal of both impacting the natural world and educating people on the less popular aspects of it.

So, I've been mulling over how I might help some of the local businesses in the area. Knowing that many SMBs (small to medium sized businesses) are vulnerable to the seasonality of the area this sparked yet another idea.

In my local region, businesses tend to be impacted from September - November and April - July which means it would be a good time to ramp up some of the marketing efforts online and get going on a marketing plan for 2014 to avoid the peaks and valleys.

The idea is to do a 30 day challenge where we all work on a plan together to move forward into learn and applying the tools and strategies that can help.

Ponder over this during the time I am away doing strategic sessions and training up in Northern California in September.
