June marks the middle of the year and official start of summer for many. I am currently in South Carolina enjoying the thunderstorms every afternoon and the different wildlife variations compared to my home state of California.

I've connected with some bird enthusiasts and am enthralled with the different critters I've encountered. Plus I found a bookstore I love--an independent that is thriving and providing author events, with a barista onsite and a lot of other amenities for book lovers. They even has a postal center within the place.

I've been here just over a ten days but it seems a lot longer. Things have been crazy busy here since I landed as I have not been back here since 2003.

This week I return to the lake house to start work on my new book and to spend more time in daily physical therapy to increase my stamina and fitness.

And yes, I'll return to California at the end of the month to spend some time back in Big Bear and make a final decision as to where I will relocate.

I am looking forward to a great summer and hope that you are too!

I've been amazed at the wildlife interactions I've been able to enjoy while here in the south. When I stopped at the local wild bird store, the owner attempted to lure me into buying bird seed and a few other odds and ends.

However, I tend to avoid feeding wildlife for the most part and since I began birding as a hobby, discovered that a wildlife garden and water source are the best ways to attract the wild creatures and keep them around while avoiding habituating them to humans.

If you have not learned about the hottest trend in gardening, do some research on wildlife gardening. The earth is a fragile place. right now everyone needs to help in restoring the balance. Delicate creatures such as insects and birds are necessary to keep things in balance and preservation can start right in your own garden.

Many people with limited space are creating vertical gardens and focusing on native plants as well as creating healthy gardens with fresh greens and fruits since our food sources are so compromised.

If you are in a draught area, be sure to let go of those attachments to a green lawn and other unnatural, water sucking foliage and try something new. I think you'll enjoy the difference while you also participate in an important trend that will make a different for animal, plants and humans.

If you have recently noticed a change in your online business rankings, you are not alone. In mid-May Google made some significant changes once again. This means that it is more important than ever to make sure that you are consistently updating your website, social media properties and making sure that you strive to get additional reviews across platforms.

All these items work together to get you better ranking plus they connect you with consumers and encourage engagement. This means people who have not done business with you yet will know, like and trust you which translates into conversions into customer, clients and patients.

When I travel I tend to use the review sites to check out businesses. I also make sure to take photos and post tips. I was astounded to discover that I was among the top 50 active people nationwide on a popular platform.

One of the things I constantly remind my clients about is the importance of getting things updated and syndicated. This means posting events and updates in a timely manner, and then broadcasting them through the social sites and event promotion sites right away and CONSISTENTLY.

The problem I find is that most business fail to take action. I'm here to tell you that if you fail to do so, your competition will and you will lose not only potential business but also your rankings online.

If you can't tackle these things, hire someone to do it for you or assign an employee to do it. If you don't evolve in your business practices, you're business is at risk of extinction much like the dinosaurs of years past.

This July, plan on booking a strategic marketing session with me, or come to the mid-year marketing makeover sessions while I am in your area. If your business is not growing or seeing the results you want, plan on ramping it up for the second half of the year.
