Wow, December has arrived signaling the end of another year and the start of a brand new one.

Although we had a bit of rain, the only snow has lightly dusted the land which has been good for me as I've been hiking a bit. A walk in the forest always tends to clear my mind and rejuvenate my spirit.

It has been a year (on the 29th) since I had to move out of the house above the lake and began recovery from the toxic mold exposure. Living next to the forest has been a lot more quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the lake and shoreline.

I've been doing pretty well but had a bad few weeks and had to delay my trip back to South Carolina. Although discouraging, compared to last year, I am doing immensely better.

It was difficult but I did get to see my Auntie Lily again. She was in great spirits and remains strongly grounded in her faith despite the increasing failure of her body. My other aunts are doing well despite their ages too--most are in their 90s now.

November was NANOWRI (National Novel Writing Month) which got me working diligently on the manuscript but since there are a lot of projects on my desk it was quiet a hectic time but despite the heavy schedule, I've been mapping out 2015.

Hopefully you had a great Thanksgiving, I took a group of seniors to a community dinner that evening but have been enjoying a quiet few weeks. Soon I'll be North in Monterey/Carmel to bring in the New Year where I'll be nestled in a ranch near the ocean and look forward to the change in temperatures--most mornings it is about 19 degrees!

The latest news is that excerpts from the chapter, Heart of the Lion was included in a new compilation about forgiveness. It amazes me that after 10 years the book is still touring the world and impacting so many.

Adjusting to change has been quiet the adventure. Living adjacent to the forest has been really different from being above the lake. I enjoy hiking with my chocolate lab neighbor and find crystals waiting for me on the path. Hiking in the woods clears my mind and grounds me.

Although I miss the birds and activity on the water, the deer and the coyotes use the wildlife corridor just outside my flat. There are bears, a cougar and bobcats but I have not glimpsed them yet.

Since I am mapping out 2015, I've been pondering just what I will be doing in the future as I head toward recovery. I'd like to get back to my wild animal and conservation focus and weave them into the business messages I share.
