The sun is finally shining here in Eugene after a week of heavy rain. It really is beautiful, but too late to save my lovely Snowball Tree, which tipped over from the weight of all the rainwater on its leaves. I had just been admiring its beauty, and thinking how much I enjoyed the shade it provided along the path leading from my front yard to the back (and realizing I needed to prune it as soon as it stopped raining), when the next morning I looked out and it on its side.

But there is new growth on the stump, so I have hope of a new tree some day. Meanwhile, I'm deciding what to plant for a little shade and screening.

Meanwhile, when I'm not working on my latest book, I'll have to get busy in my yard and plant all the lovely flowers I bought today.
