Welcome to the second issue of the "Crazy Quilt Chronicles," This Newsletter is designed to keep readers abreast of progress toward publication of my newly revised memoir, "Pieces from Life's Crazy Quilt." by the University of Nebraska Press in the spring of 2003.

Progress Up to This Point:

Work on final manuscript completed and submitted to Chief Editor.

Galleys received and reviewed by Author. Mailed back to Copy Editor 15 June 2002. This is an interesting process. The Editor suggests, and the Author accepts of rejects suggestions. All rejections must have accompanying justification by the Author. It had better be good, because the final decision rests with the Editor. I have been blessed with a sensitive Editor who respect my voice in the work, and is doing all she can to retain it. She has commented that my manuscript required very light editing, most of which was to conform the manuscript to the format the university uses.

Continuing to gather words of praise in re my book from an eclectic mix of writers and readers. Process to be completed by July 15, 2002.

Web site established on www.authorsden.com. Will be updated as information is received from Nebraska Press. This Newsletter is a product of that site.

Upcoming Events:

The "Let's Talk About it Program.

On June 17, 2002 author will meet with a group of library patrons at Elmsdale Branch of the Detroit Public Library, located the self-published version of "Pieces from the Crzy Quilt. The discusion will begin at 10 am and end at 12 noon. This will be the second session held by the author.

Tip:

Publication of the self-published version of my memoir has been ended to make way for publicity blitz on revised version by University of Nebraska Press. I have been asked by a number of readers how they could get a copy of the self-published version. My spies tell me that Barnes & Noble (on line) have a few copies left. Also, Booksamillion (on line) is selling copies through their "Hard to Find Department" for $35.00. Suggest interested parties wait for the cloth bound version to be issued by Nebraska Press in spring 2003.
