1. How did you become an author?

Every Christmas, I wrote a short story as a gift to
friends, and I got such strong feedback that I decided
to tackle a bigger project. After researching and
developing a universe, history, races, and worlds, I
tackled a novel. At the Mercy of Her Pleasure, from
Liquid Silver Books, is the result.

2. What inspires you?

To be honest, I find inspiration everywhere. I make
notes all the time, then transcribe them to my PC or
PDA. My problem isn't inspiration but deciding which
bits of it to use. For example, Rammstein's music
inspired "Wind and Thunder" which is a rock group
appearing in my next two books.

3. What are you working on now? Future books?

Right now I'm focusing on the sequel to At the Mercy
of Her Pleasure, called For Women Only, about the
brother of the hero in ATMOHP. I'm also plotting my
next project, Rock Me, which will have a hero
introduced in FWO. There are at least a dozen books
planned in the Tarthian Empire setting. And my website
will be updated every two weeks with trivia or a new
part of the virtual tour of the empire. I'm busy all
the time.

4. If you could have lunch with a literary figure
(living or dead) who would it be? And why?

Mary Renault, solely to ask about her most famous
subject, Alexander the Great. I've read about
Alexander all my life. I'm interested in seeing the
new movies about him, but don't expect them to be
accurate portrayals of his life. Her book The Persian
Boy is one of my favorite novels.

5. What advice would you like to offer aspiring
writers?

Join a critique group. It's important to allow others
to read your work, and to consider their advice. You
don't have to take it, but it will open your eyes to
new ways of doing things. My critique group is like
family to me. I treasure them as individuals, and
trust them as writers. It's listed on my website's
links page, but there are hundreds of groups online.
Find one that works for you.

6. What do you like to do besides writing?

I don't have much time for anything else except
reading, but I did just go see Spiderman 2 and loved
it. I rent a lot of movies. In the car, I listen to
music.

7. Favorite movie?

Many favorites, but few I watch repeatedly. I'd say
number one is The Phantom starring Billy Zane (for
that gorgeous body suit and his wild
airplane-to-horseback stunt), and number two is The
Last of the Mohicans starring Daniel Day Lewis (for
that incredible kiss and his hair - wow!). Both are
romantic movies and have lots of action. I don't like
tearjerker movies and would prefer martial arts any
day.

Vacation spot?

Las Vegas. I grew up there and love to go home. I
don't gamble, so I enjoy all the other fun things,
especially the Luxor Hotel's Egyptian theme and the
Hilton's Star Trek material. One extreme to the other.
And the desert is beautiful.

Food?

My favorite is a Malaysian dish called Mango Chicken.
I always order it with coconut soup and a sweet/spicy
salad of pickled vegetables. I cook a few things well
but prefer to dine out.

8. Anything you'd like to tell our readers? Upcoming

9. Have you written anything besides books?

Yes. For years, I wrote non-fiction material for the
company where I worked. I also wrote lesson plans for
the Toastmaster's club where I was an officer for five
years. And members of my newsletter can read a short
story each month.
