Hello Friends:

It’s been awhile since I sent out a “Howdy-do,” and a lot’s happened in that time. I’ll bet there’s been much going on in your world, too . . . so how ‘bout if I tell you my news, you write & tell me yours?! I think that’s a good trade!

I’m now devoting my time to my new book, “Reluctant Witness: Robert Taylor, Hollywood, & Communism.” No one can expect a book to sell well, or any product really, unless one can devote necessary time & resources to marketing it. I’ve gotten more done in the past month for my book effort than I have in the past year, & it certainly feels good. The cover was finalized & created & the book formatted for print. As of yesterday, Tuesday, March 25th, the e-book version of “Reluctant Witness” is available for purchase at FictionWise: http://www.fictionwise.com . Scroll down to “General Nonfiction” & – voila! If you enjoy books on your computer, or on a hand-held reading device, this might be a good way to get your early read. I just sent off the final galley to my publisher for the print version, & as of right now, it is expected on the market no later than May, maybe sooner. One would think I’d never published a book before to hear my excitement over this one. Yet, as I’ve mentioned (probably too many times), this has been a long & difficult pregnancy, & the birth sometimes seemed as if it would not happen. Yet determination & faith kept me going &, finally, the time was right. Seeing it in galleys, in book format, was like looking at my darling newborn for the first time. What a beautiful baby I have! April 27 is . . . . . Tell A Story Day: Oh boy, another good day to read a book by Yours Truly!
April 30 is . . . . . National Honesty Day: I guess this one is to make up for the 4th.

UPCOMING PRESS TRIPS:

April 18 – 20: 2008 – I’ll be in Daytona Beach for the Baby Boomer Divas (I’m serious!) Retreat weekend. As a charter member of the Baby Boomer Diva Web of Fame, there was no way I could resist this event. I will be speaking on Saturday. As the website says about my seminar, “Everyone's life is a story so why not write a book – and the stories are juicier at midlife!” http://www.enjoyyourmenopause.com/retreat08.htm . Early June, 2008 – I have a trip planned to Nebraska. Nebraska was Robert Taylor’s home state, & figured prominently into his story, throughout his life. There will be a celebration in Filley, the town in which he was born, the first weekend of that month. The next week is “Homestead Days” in Beatrice, the neighboring town in which he grew up. I’ll do book signings at both, as well as in & around Lincoln & Omaha. If you’re in any of these areas, or know anyone who is, please send me an e-mail so I can let you know the details.

July, 2008 - My publisher is planning a big bash in North Carolina – the Camp LeJeuene area –& my plan is to be there for that.

Late Summer, early Fall: A trip to Los Angeles. After all, can’t write a book about a movie star & not go to Hollywood to promote it, can I?! Right now, I’m starting to put together the details on this. If you live in or around Los Angeles area, or have family or friends there, & you have any great ideas for opportunities . . . by all means, please write & let me know. I’m still putting that calendar together & would love some creative ideas. “Book Parties” in private homes are a great way to have a fun time, together with friends & neighbors. Think “Tupperware” but with books!

NOTE: If you know of good bookstores in & around the Maryland/Washington/Pennsylvania/West Virginia area – or suggest somewhere else! – please send me a note. I’m looking for more opportunities.

** I have photographic prints available for purchase at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center in downtown Frederick - 40 South Carroll Street : http://www.delaplaine.org . For Frederick locals, this is a fantastic place for the local arts community. Great gifts made by your community artists. If you have a chance, stop by – see my framed photos, hanging on the wall, as well as so many other beautiful works.

It’s a great place to see what the industry’s doing, what’s coming out, & new books you might be interested in. The review I did on “Lady In White,” isn’t yet up . . . but should be soon. ** I have a short appearing in the newsletter from All Romance E-Books. The newsletter is available for sign-up at: http://allromanceebooks.com/ . Titled, “Reluctant Witness: Bob & Barbara Meet,” it tells how Bob Taylor & Barbara Stanwyck first got together, written in a story format, & it will be out on April 25th. I will utilize this piece elsewhere for promotional purposes after the 4/25 date.

** Much Ado About Books: I will have a book signing in Frederick, MD on Saturday, April 5th, during the city’s “First Saturday” program. This fantastic event, titled “Much Ado About Books,” marries authors with local business owners to create a literary, retail, & community event for fun & profit. Please come visit between 5 PM – 9 PM at the funky, fun retail establishment, Retro Metro, 213 N. Market Street in downtown Frederick. In case you need to call for directions: 301-698-8100. I’ll have copies of my other 4 published available for sale, & will be promoting “Reluctant Witness.” This is a fun event & great for the whole family.
