I am about to change the name of my Newsletter to "Memoirs of a WW II Weatherman."

Why?

Because that's the name of my latest work in progress. I have almost finished it -- unless I decide to make another three month rewrite.

Keep droping by. It should be out in a month -- or a year -- or a century or two.

Please have patience. It's worth the price.

Subject: WW II Memoirs

I am currently through my first draft of my WW II Memoirs and starting on the rewrites.

Will it be a best seller?

Will it be popular?

What do you think?

Most War books concentrate on the blood and guts side of the wars. I concentrated on the humor -- and perhaps a little advice about how to survive such a conflict. I never got shot. I didn't even get shot at, and I definitely didn't try to shoot anyone else. I merely predicted the weather and did my best to keep out pilots informed about what they might run into once they got up there in the wild blue yonder.

When trying to make accurate forecasts, my first rule was to look outside before punching the "send" button. That usually worked.

My WW II adventures also carried me to interesting lands like the deep south, Puerto Rico, Guatamala, and Panama (the Canal Zone). I doubt if I would recognize one of those stopping points if I were to travel today.

How do I know?

I revisited Puerto Rico while taking a cruise. The similarities between the Puerto Rico of today and that of yesteryear are hard to find. I couldn't even find the Institute of Tropical Meteorology. I know it was located at one of their universities in San Juan, but I could never figure out which one, nor where it was located.

C'est la vie.

See you next month.
