WOMEN AT WAR

Noonie Fortin, 1SG, USAR (Ret) posts regularly on the MINERVA (women in the military) list serve. One of her monthly posts is entitled “Remember the Fallen.” It is sobering to read the list, month after month. Noonie Fortin reviews all females who died from war from World War II to the present conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. In addition to fallen military women, this month’s list included civilian women working in the military in harms way. Here is Noonie Fortin’s compilation presented the first of April 2006. She posted:

Scott Murdock’s Travels

Thank you Connie Kerns, former honor student of mine at Hawkeye Community College and now a prelaw student at the University of South Dakota. Sometimes I get so caught up in my journey that I forget to pause to appreciate the good things that happen. Such was the case with me in the year 2000. Thus, I share with you now, an award I received then. In 1997, one of my best students in Composition II at Hawkeye Community College, nominated me for the following award that I did receive and was subsequently published:
