Dear Readers,

Today, as we pause together to pay tribute to the troops, we also offer a prayer for peace:

Every day is fitting, but Memorial Day is especially an appropriate time to pay tribute to our troops in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere in the world. I am grateful for their sacrificial service that allows me to continue enjoying a good life.

Along with the tribute, I humbly offer my prayer for peace; that peace might come sooner rather than later -- so that the service women and men may also come home sooner rather than later. And so that more lives will be spared.
