Happy Hello Dear Readers!!

Summer has given way to Fall and the trees are nearly bare. Still, Fall hangs on permitting us to engage in one of our favorite pastimes, going to the riverside to feed the ducks (and sometimes, unwanted geese guests). Usually, we get a McDonald's cone to take for us, but sometimes, the ducks can't wait for their bread and they have been known to peck the car and so on. So, we took to parking across the park only to find the ducks journeyed by foot to where we were. They do not want to lose the good thing they have.

THE STATUS OF THE WOMEN OF AFGHANISTAN, 2008

Last week, I traveled to New York City to interview Afghanistan's ambassador to the United Nations, The Honorable Zahir Tanin. I am continually impressed with the warmth of the people of this culture. It is heart breaking to hear how they struggle to rebuild their infrastructure only to have much of it burned. I found the Ambassador to be quite persuasive in his representation of his country.
