Monday's Rain

Lost in a world of Monday-morning catch-up,
papers to file, calls to return,
the sudden thunder clap awakens me
to a dark place full of overcast skies
that sag with the burden of  another rainfall.

The debris-strewn ground
seems to signify the day’s depressive mood
as people carefully sidestep the minefield
of deepening puddles and skeletal limbs
just beyond my window.

One soul braves the morning tempest
and with no umbrella, seeks sporadic protection
under tall crepe myrtles that dot the ground
with carpets of blossoms
like f
allen pink dreams.

Perhaps later there will be a rainbow
stretching across blue skies
and freshened air to renew the senses
and the souls of those who have
battled Monday’s life storms.

Yet while the deluge continues
I hope you will think briefly of me
and a magical kiss in a light summer shower
under a night sky heavy with possibilities.
I still smile when it rains.  Even on a Monday.

I always loved te rain even as a teenager. Used to say it was weather for the ducks when I had to go to work in the rain after I got out of school days. Rain refreshes and you used many words of comfort the rain can bring to us. Even rainy Mondays I can accept. Thanks

very very good!. You set the stage for this lovely romantic piece well with the vivid nature imagery, then took the reader into the warmth of sunshine with the ending piece. Exceptional work!
