A new poem from my updated book, "The Old Corner Post".

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Adam Blinked

Oh Adam what did you do that fateful day,

You were in the garden why didn’t you stay.

You were doing quite well naked and all,

If you only had stayed there’d been no fall.

For over in the orchard a ruckus arose,

It was that woman, who wore no clothes.

Screaming till the ground did shake,

About some big, slithering, talking snake.

She burst out beside the old peach tree,

With flailing arms she screams, “Come see.”

You told her to suck it up and go back in,

Better to face your fear and gain a win.

She did what you said she had no choice,

She walked real slow with that muttering voice.

She acted very sassy disappearing from sight,

You knew it would be another cold, lonely night.

You heard faint voices and “Yum that’s good,”

And next you looked up and there she stood.

She was all smiles and batting her eyes,

Sensually whispering about her apple pies.

Putting down your hoe, you went for a peek,

She stood there purring all cuddly and meek.

Saying she loved you, holding an apple to your face,

You blinked, bit and swallowed, goodbye human race.
