Amazing in God's scheme of things
That He gave us all a heart
Made it pliable to contain
Each tiny beating part
Where passion streams in lightening
Where pain comes and goes
Where sensation registers new love
As the thrill travels to toes
The heart tugs hard to curl them
Then dreams of flying high
Takes all it's energy to ignite
The turbine's of love's fire
Then when it fades with sour love
It donates all it's might
Conditons love that is gone
Without putting up much fight
Resillient in it's taste for love
It always bounces back
With love the fuel that guides it's thirst
With compassion as a fact.

Love how you express the tangible flutter and flame along with the abstract ideas that make heart so amazing. Your heart is so big and vital and full when it spills onto a page we see illuminations of things that are indeed universal, while also deeply personal.

Susan, you've penned a wonderful tribute to the physical side of 'heart.' It's shameful that we use the word so much to describe indescribable emotion. Poor old heart, it works all the time for everyone; doing all of our grunt work, too! Thank you for this one.
