Give me a little elbow room
With space enough to grow
Won't you tell him that I love him
And then I'll need to go
I don't really love him
You see he is a dream
He opened up a dying heart
Sneaked on in the in-between
The part that was so empty?
He added his own spark
Slowly filled the hollow space
Danced on out into the dark
Then slowly he disappeared
Just where I do not know
Left a woman very wounded
With a need to try and grow
So cautious are her steps now
Treading lightly... thin as air
"I don't love you ... but I love you."
As if he really cared.
Very nicely done, superb dramatic pacing and a wonderful open use of analogy to immediately involve the reader, getting them to feel what you are saying! This is exceptional, Susan!
