Amen! I've stopped beating myself up about being told of my "childlike, fun-loving" qualities as though being lively and being able to laugh at oneself negates also being a woman of substance. Enjoyed the write, Cynth'ya.

I think that age means something different today than it did for our parents and grandparents. I never would have seen my grandmother taking an aerobic class or using weights for strength training and I never would have seen my mom on a jet-ski, but at my 55 years these are regular activities for myself and many of my peers. I think that they were inclined to wind down as the inconveniences of aging began to affect them. I see us as being more defiant and believing that if we refuse to quit then we will be more in control of our fate. We take a much more active "move it or lose it" approach to our aging process. Perhaps the state of the economy assists us in this, as most of us know that retirement, which was a promise to the generations before us, is only a dream that we may never be able to afford. Cute poem, Cynth'ya. I like the way you used "computer speak" to make your point.
