promises everywhere,
some without signs,
intentional honor
wears thin over time,
we wait and we wonder
if changes can be
the way we imagine
from seashore to sea
if only the people
could trust what they hear
with lov'd ones far off
in lands dry'd and sear'd
would just dust off their ethics,
and shame all their peers
(what will happen in this 
odd electoral year?)
