Poem Artwork

CV all in order,

not a missphelled,

(whoops)

misspelld

(crap!)

misSPELLED word in sight!

made certain there are no smudges or wrinkles

in the 100 percent 24# bond;

made copies,

collated 1 thru 8

and it had 'the look."

~

left home in a hurry;

ran a red light to

beat the rush;

had to pick up my

12 year-old transcript

because the intern

LOST my mail-in request;

I gave her, 'the look'

~

ended up with a ticket

stuck underneath

my worn out wiper blades

'cause I took too long for the

on-campus, 20 minute parking meter

to make up its mind;

snatched the ticket off my windshield,

broke a press on nail,

stuck the damn ticket in my

black polyester jacket

that had a hole in the pocket

(so I discover'd three weeks later);

got in my bean of a coup called

pinto

drove it's muffler-draggin' carcass

10 miles 'cross town to the promised-land

-- on the west side,

you know, where the sun sets over suburban sprawl and forgets about the east where the west was won);

. . . parked my car in the supervisor's space,

slid my lips back and forth

to knock a bit of supa-shine off my

su-weet black cherry lip gloss;

and with neck crooked, took

ONE MORE LOOK

in my crooked rear view mirror,

sucked the romaine remnant

from between the ample gap of my two front teeth,

slightly hiked up my skirt, (just a bit)

higher than prudish and lower than slutty

-- just in case I happen to run into my pastor's uppity wife,

pushed the fake portable D-cups

in my B cup water bra for that fresh-as-a-daisy-duke-demure,

and I had, 'THAT LOOK'. . .

reached up between my legs

before departing from my spotted
pod-on-wheels,

and unbunched my

nylon crotchless, toeless south pacific pantyhose

(but not before squeezin' the bunny for luck);

made sure my weaved-in hair was balanced on both sides,

blinked to unblur my left blue green opaque aqua vue lens,

slayed my oral dragon with a spritz of

Essense of dollar store impulse buy

in a 1 ounce spray canister--

checked my underarm sweat index,

and finally got the nerve

to walk thru the door

at 4:50 PM when the HR department

"conveniently" shut the computers down. . .

where once again

I got, 'The Look.'

Awesome write. I loved it!!! It sounds like a typical day in my world in New York City. It's so funny, yet so true. Great job.

Cynth'ya;

Can't say I've had days like that, but I've certainly had many of the male version of it.

Oh, sorry babe but I've got one more piece of bad news for you. There appears to be a run in your nylons. Check the back side of the right leg, up in the thigh area.

Spotted it after giving the Close Look.
