Moving on was difficult, but I'm very comfortable with where I'm at in my life..... Oh, I'm also "sharing the ride."

LIFE’S LONELY ROAD

Drivin’ down Old Dixie,
in this car my buddy loaned,
it’s been a long and lonely life,
the last half spent half stoned.

In my mind she’s right beside me,
heading to a picture show.
She’s always by my side
no matter where I go.

Listening to the stereo,
re-living those old times.
George and Merle and Marty
singing those old classic lines.

On Saturday’s it’s college ball
Sunday it’s the professional game.
I really don’t enjoy it,
but, every weekend it’s the same.

Then it’s Monday night football,
Tuesday, back to the mine.
One day after another,
they all fall in line.

Wednesday I meet my buddy
to shoot a game of pool.
He’s betting pretty heavy
and I’m taking him to school.

Thursday night it’s TV,
Friday night the bar.
It’s so close that I can walk it
rather than take my car.

The games start again on Saturday,
friendly wagers declare our pride.
Travelin’ down life’s lonely road,
looking for someone to share the ride.

The first poem reminds me of how it feels to get caught up under fortune's wheel. It can be lonely, even surrounded by friends & family. It's that heartbreak that pushes a person over the edge. The second one celebrates that special person or event that returns us to life. You've shared these emotions beautifully!

Nice writings. I think its healthy to just be with what we feel, instead of trying to make it something else. All our feelings are valid and yours are wonderfully expressed here in these poems. Nice feelings, Richard.

Very desriptive is "Life's Lonely Road", but life is what we make it and how we remember it once was...

Very upbeat, hopeful, and desireable is "My New Email Friend" giving one something to look forward to...

Be always safe,
Karen
