The Gift of You

Life is damn near perfect these days.

I wrote this poem for my sweetie. Then I wrote a poem titled ONCE IN A BLUE MOON about the email conversations that took place after she read it. I'm reposting this because the two poems belong together.

THE GIFT OF YOU

My life now has new meaning,
since I was given this wonderful gift.
I’ve found new reasons to smile
and it has given me such a lift.

As we share our mutual passions,
each day brings new thrills.
We ascribe and then amend
the ever shifting of our wills.

A dreamy afternoon,
listening to our favorite songs.
Each new passing day
sensing more & more that we belong.

Sharing a glass of wine
after the evenings dinner.
Anticipating a lifetime,
each day knowing I’m the winner.

It’s no longer just a dream,
or something I’m just hoping to do.
My life now is nearly perfect,
since I received the gift of you.

It's so refreshing to read of such shared happiness, in a world where everyone seems to be giving up on love and marriage. It is so rare these days. I hope you can write these love notes to your sweetie for years to come.
