MY NEW TOMORROW - REVISITED

I once said I’m getting long in tooth, but
I’ve realized most all my plans.
It hasn’t always been a happy life,
but I’ve been given another chance.
One day when I awoke,
I found myself looking back.
I’d always been forward thinking,
but somehow I’d gotten a bit off track.
First you’re turning sixteen,
then you graduate.
Soon you’re married with kids
coming through your front gate.
You’ve already been to college,
already bought your second home.
The kids are grown and gone,
then you find yourself alone.
You wander for a while,
trying to find your way.
Several wrong paths taken,
lead you to this day.
You’ve a bunch of yesterdays
with things still left undone.
But, very few tomorrows
to enjoy the rising of the sun.
There’s a lady in your life and
you’re now long past the sorrow.
It’s been a long and winding road,
but she’s now your new tomorrow.
We met on MATCH.COM,
we both had lost our mate.
For me it had been 20 years
of trusting my luck to fate.
But fate hadn’t been my friend,
I needed to improve my chances.
I certainly hadn’t found her
by going to singles dances.
One day MATCH.COM
popped up on my screen
I’d heard of dating services,
not for me, or so it seemed.
But this one caught my eye
and showed me several faces.
Said they were looking for me,
here in my little town, of all places.
They offered a free trial
I thought I’d give it a try.
Next day she sent me a wink
and she really caught my eye.
We traded messages for a time
decided we should meet.
Over butter pecan ice cream
she knocked me off my feet.
That was two years ago,
neither of us has looked back.
Soon she’ll be moving in,
in fact, I’ll help her pack.
We give the thanks to MATCH.COM
they deserve all the glory.
We’ll be spending our remaining days
writing the ending to this story.
