She Knows I am Flawed

My sweetie knows I'm flawed, but she chooses not to notice it. Either that, or she hides it well.

SHE KNOWS I AM FLAWED

My sweetie stands beside me
in everything I do,
she knows that I am flawed
and she knows that I know it too.

I try to keep them minimized,
offset by all things good.
I haven’t shamed her lately,
intentionally, I never would.

You just can’t reach this age
having never done any wrong.
Oh, you might tell that story,
but no one believes it very long.

She knows that I’m no angel,
there’s not much to applaud
and though I often get it right,
she still knows that I’m flawed.

She accepts me for what I am
and I always try my best.
If she seems unconcerned,
it’s cause I’ve already passed her test.

This isn’t a rehearsal,
we’re in our second act.
She’s already made her peace
with all that I may lack.

When they draw my final curtain
I hope to leave her awed,
but when my story ends
she’ll still know I was flawed.

Honest and real; and such acceptance from your lady is the mark of real love and friendship. You are a lucky man, Richard. Love and peace to both of you,

Regis

The beauty of life is that nobody is perfect no matter how much they think they are. the trick is as your poem suggests finding someone who can tolerate our flaws and still love us...well done Richard.

Your flaws aren't seen because true love doesn't see flaws, only happiness.

Your poem is charming and humble. You sound so content as you shape your relationship into love-stitched words.
Blessings,

The Heart's Way by Rebecca McKeehan

Love is universal and not limited to the most perfect among us. In this collection of romantic short stories and poetry, love comes to those who are decidedly imperfect, who possess very real human flaws, scars, and challenges. Awaiting us as we are.
