This was written over a year ago when I was returning from a road trip without my sweetie. I was anxious to get back and hoping that she was feeling the same. She was, we did and WOW!!!!

RETURNING HOME

I’m in my car, heading home.
With just my thoughts, I sit alone.
She’s not here, but in my heart,
never more will we be apart.

She’s been in my thoughts for a very long time.
Often I’ve dreamt, of her lips on mine.
It could not be, or so it seemed,
could her reality exceed what I had dreamed?

I was surprised at how my comfort grew.
And, how my life feels so renewed.
A look or smile can mean so much,
sometimes maybe, just a gentle touch.

She seems to feel the same as me.
Who’d have thought that could ever be?
That I could learn to love again
or that I would love my email friend?

I thought about it as a trial run.
I only imagined it would be such fun.
She awakened something from deep within,
something I never expected to feel again.

I can’t remember a kiss so sweet,
or when my life has felt so complete.
I now look forward instead of back.
I feel my life getting back on track.

I can hardly wait for her next trip South,
or, to place my lips upon her mouth.
To dance with her and go out to eat.
To say I love you and then repeat.

It may be a while before I’m able,
to place all my cards upon her table.
It could be a long, exciting wait,
but it’s going to happen, cause it’s our fate.
