Once in a Blue Moon

My sweetie and I only recently moved in together. Before that, we often emailed several times a day. During one of those sessions I wrote her a nice poem, titled THE GIFT OF YOU (it's posted just below this one) That was followed by several emails, which I copied and kept, thinking one day I'd convert them into a poem. Following is a CLEANED UP version of the resulting poem.

ONCE IN A BLUE MOON
 
I wrote her a beautiful poem
telling her how much I care.
It’s titled THE GIFT OF YOU
discussing mutual passions that we share.
 
She wrote me back a little note,
in which she called me "a treasure."
She said my poem made her "teary eyed
and brought her lots of pleasure."
 
She said I was "an angel,"
that she really enjoyed my words.
“Next time we get together,
you may get seconds or thirds.”
 
My comment back to her
was geared to add a little spice.
I said, “Speaking of pleasure,
oral romance might be nice.”
 
She might have been taken aback,
but she’s always quick to recover.
It’s one of the things that attracted me
and why I became her lover.
 
She didn’t respond immediately,
but of course, I only said it as a lark.
Then she said, “Don't make me have to
take back my ‘You're an Angel’ remark.”
 
Well, that got me to thinking,
so I offered her a trade.
I was thinking, “If not oral romance,
maybe at the least, I might get laid."
 
So I offered to give up angel points
in exchange for oral sex.
Sometimes it’s how you word it,
she just might say, “What the heck.”
 
Well, she never did respond,
so now I’m left to assume
 there’ll likely be no oral romance,
not even once in a Blue Moon.
