I have a Silver Box

filled with Never Befores;

once in a lifetime joys;

quiet times,

requited trusts

silver, private comments

whispered at night

under party lights;

recognition smiles across a crowded room;

garter belt hints,

special scents only you and I know;

of late night,

gentle grapplings;

me rising high so as to let you devour me

because you hunger that special hunger

which excites me.

And I give it all

holding nothing back

turning inside out

exposing my inside because you really really want me to.

You show me famished famish and mine reciprocates

as we let our tables turn

Cowgirl style, Cowboy style

in the lingering Carolina heat

as astonishment creeps

as it always does from deep

exploding there,

fireworks rushing down to my toes tingling

and I hear myself say

“Did you do that?”

But it’s futile

to talk

if your body is quivering,

if your soul is shaking

and you don’t know

what just happened to you;

each time a complete surprise

even if you know its coming,

you realize only after

as the ceiling fan whirs above

issuing soft purrs

as we lay amid exhausted whisperings,

astonished breathings

while Still Time expresses the wonder

of yet another offering to the Secret Box

of Memories.

That lid opens and gently closes;

I forgetting only to remember next time

that I had inexplicably forgotten

the wonders of it.
