She started solo, no expections
Just another nite of the same conversations
She brushed her hair, and put on her makeup
Put on her coat, and set off to the club
Driving along to meet her friends
Worried about the money she'd spend
Why did I say I would go out???
Just learn to say no, then not have to pout
She sat in her car, and watched couples go in
Played a pity sonata on a small violin
I'm to old for this game, the rules have all changed
I'm yesterday's stock in this commodity exchange
She saw her friends go thru the door
Dressed to the nines, with implements of war
God Bless Them!! They are where they WANT to be
But this meat market thing, is just not for me!!
She turned around, and headed back home
Content with the thought of being alone
Lost in her thoughts she ran a red light
Plowed into a squad car, with lights red and white!!!
A ticket was issued along with a lecture
By a tired patrol man, with an urge to protect her
He followed her home, her nerves were a mess
And as to the outcome, I'll just let you guess.........
But lets just say, this cop loved to dance
He thought her a Blue Chip, at very first glance
And thanked the fates that ruled that night
That she reneged on her invite
Now after his shift she waits for him
And then their private dance begins
But that was many years ago
Now when they dance....they take it real slow

I like the way the before and after spin around on axis of disaster. You put the exclamation point smack in the middle. great.

That moment alone in the car--MY GAWD woman! What woman has NOT done that? Young or old! I loved the storyline. Dancing slow ----I think it the only way to do it --sometimes ;) What a laser light show :)
