Shooting Star

A poem to honor a dearly departed loved one.

Poem Artwork

One night, I saw a shooting star go
streaking ‘cross the sky
And on the wind, somehow I knew your
spirit had flown by,
For so much time, our hearts were one and
yet they’ll ever be
As nothing could e’er take the place of
whom you were to me.

You came to bless my life one eve when I
was less than whole
And left a mark that to this day still reigns
within my soul,
Forever may seem much too long for many
on this earth
But evermore my heart is yours in merit
and in worth.

We shared together many things that no
two others could
We laughed and cried; we lived and
thrived more than I know we should,
But through it all, our love remained so
sturdy and secure
That when you traveled ‘yond the grave,
you taught me to endure.

You left behind the memories the night
God called you Home
So that each time I chose to grieve, I would
not feel alone,
And while I long to be with you in the
Kingdom afar
I know you’re with me, through and
through, in every shooting star.

This is such a moving tribute to the one you lost. It is encouraging, however, to read such a positive message contained within words of grief. Those we love are never completely lost and they will forever remain in our thoughts and memories.
Take care and be strong

JIll this is such a splendid piece of poetry! Though grief is felt and tears shed, the beauty of thought within this poem is for the tribute to the relationship which will live forever!

Eileen

The very hour and minute my little passed away I was looking at a shooting star...driving my car to the hospital she was taken to by plane...and I just knew at that very moment I lost her. And I looked at my watch...and when the doctor told us what happened i asked him what time it was...and it was the exact same time!!

So... this touched me so deeply I cannot say no more!!

Love Tinka
